South Africa

Dutch settlers were quick to grasp the viticultural potential of the Cape region, planting the first vineyard in 1655. Around 1680, the French Huguenots brought winemaking tradition and experience which saw the industry flourish.

Thanks to this heritage, and massive investment in the 1990’s, South African wine straddles both the Old and New World in style, combining elegance and sophistication with powerful fruit character, making South Africa a real player on the global wine stage.
