South of France

Along with the Rhône Valley and Spain, the appellations of Southern France are the Old World's answer to the New World's fruity, warm and upfront wines.

Like Italy, there are two distinct camps; those who have embraced international grape varieties like Merlot and Sauvignon, and those who strive to use indigenous grape varieties like Colombard and Cinsault to produce wines that are unique.

With the introduction of modern wine making techniques many are well on their way to being the new international classics.
