Regional France

During the last year we have seen great excitement caused by the hugely popular 2005 vintage in Bordeaux, and there are signs that Burgundy will also produce many fine wines when they are released this Autumn.

The year of production of any wine from the classic areas of France has always been an important determinant in its quality, as the weather will vary from year to year. The 2005 Bordeaux vintage has been extraordinary in terms of the interest that it has created around the world, with many wines selling for record prices. We will be listing these once shipped. However, I think that there are many more modestly priced wines that give enormous pleasure. The key is careful selection.

As a further guide Richard Balls, proprietor and wine buyer, has also prepared vintage notes for those wines from Bordeaux, and Red and White Burgundy regions to help with your choice.
